Whether you are a student studying Human Resource Management (HRM) or a manager who wants to stay ahead, you need the PDF eBook, Contemporary Human Resource Management: Text and Cases (5th Edition). The book is written by experts in their fields and delivers a comprehensive and critical exploration of the key practices, functions, and issues in HRM today. The 5th edition is substantially revised and updated with new material to reflect contemporary research and debates. The textbook uses clear but thought-provoking language to delve into theoretical and practical aspects of HRM. The eBook covers fundamental HRM practices in the first part, while the second half examines emerging and recent issues. Each chapter has at least two case studies, exercises, or activities that enable and encourage readers to apply key concepts practically.

Reviews

The eBook leads the debates across the constantly changing HRM discipline. According to Kristina Potocnik, Lecturer in Human Resource Management and Director, MSc Human Resource Management at the University of Edinburgh, “This is an excellent eBook that covers all major HRM areas. It also keeps pace with recent advances and current discussions of HRM by exploring more contemporary topics such as knowledge management, workplace bullying, flexibility, or emotion at work.” Paula McDonald, Professor of Work and Organisation at Queensland University of Technology also says, “The eBook skillfully integrates academic content and case study applications across a range of relevant contemporary HR debates.”

Professor Tom Redman was a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development and Professor of Human Resource Management at the University of Durham Business School. Unfortunately, he passed away suddenly during the production stages of this edition of the eBook. His work and influence on the HRM field continue and he will be sadly missed. Professor Tony Dundon is a Fellow of the Academy of Social Sciences (FAcSS) and former Chief Examiner for the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) and joint Editor-in-Chief of the Human Resource Management Journal (HRMJ). He is the Professor of Human Resource Management and Employment Relations at Alliance Manchester Business School, University of Manchester and has been a visiting professor at several institutions, including the University of St Andrews, Sydney University, Deakin University, Queensland University of Technology, and Toulouse Business School.
