About The Author

Weston M. Stacey

Weston M. Stacey

Dr. Weston M. Stacey is a research physicist, Professor of Nuclear Engineering at Georgia Tech, and author of leading ebooks on nuclear fusion and nuclear reactor physics. From 1979-88 he led the IAEA INTOR Workshop (documented in his history "The Quest for a Fusion Energy Reactor") which led to the ITER project in which Europe, USA, Japan, Russia, S. Korea, China, and India are collaborating to build the first experimental fusion power reactor (to operate in the 2020s). He is a Fellow of the American Physical Society and of the American Nuclear Society. The history of his family, who were among the early settlers of Georgia, and of his own rise from a childhood of hunting and fishing in rural south Georgia to become an internationally recognized applied nuclear physicist, is documented in his memoir "From Midway Church to Nuclear Fusion."

This eBook entitled “Nuclear Reactor Physics” 3rd Edition provides a comprehensive and balanced coverage of the topic. The first part of the book covers the basic reactor physics, which includes nuclear reactions, reactor dynamics, diffusion theory, fuel burnup, and reactor safety. The second part of the book focuses on more advanced topics such as resonance absorption, neutron transport theory, and neutron thermalization.

To help readers easily access important information, the book features detailed appendices containing useful mathematical formulas, nuclear data, a review of special functions, and an introduction to matrix algebra and Laplace transforms.

This eBook is particularly suited for advanced students and professional nuclear engineers seeking an in-depth understanding of the subject. It can be used in various courses including nuclear reactor dynamics and stability, neutron transport theory, nuclear reactor physics, advanced nuclear reactor physics, and nuclear reactor fuel cycle physics.
