William Navidi

Dr. William Navidi received his B.A. in mathematics from New College, M.A in mathematics from Michigan State University, and his Ph.D. in stats from the UC Berkeley. William is a professor of statistics and applied mathematics at the Colorado School of Mines in Golden, Colorado. He began his teaching career at the County College of Morris in Dover, New Jersey. Dr. Navidi has taught math and statistics at all levels, from developmental through the graduate level. He has written 2 engineering statistics textbooks for McGraw-Hill Education and has authored more than 50 research papers, both in statistical theory and in a wide variety of applications, including computer networks, molecular biology, chemical engineering, epidemiology, and geophysics.

The fourth edition of Statistics for Engineers and Scientists by William Navidi is a comprehensive guide to the principles and methods of data analysis and statistical modeling used in scientific work. The PDF eBook takes a practical approach, providing clear explanations of complex concepts and using modern real-world data sets to motivate engineering students and show direct connections to research.

The writing style of the textbook is engaging and intuitive, supported by numerous examples that help students develop problem-solving skills and build an understanding of fundamental concepts. An optional, add-on item called Connect is also available, providing an integrated learning system that adapts to deliver precisely what students need to learn more effectively.

The Connect system includes quizzes, homework, and tests, making it easy for professors to assign and grade student work. Problems are randomized to prevent sharing of answers, and multi-step solutions are provided to help students learn and overcome difficulties.
