Dr. Wayne Weiten teaches psychology and mentors teaching assistants at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. A graduate of Bradley University, he received his Ph.D. in social psychology from the University of Illinois, Chicago in 1981. He has won prestigious teaching awards from the College of DuPage and Division 2 of the American Psychological Association. He served as the conference chair for the 1991 APA National Conference on Enhancing the Quality of Undergraduate Education in Psychology. He is a fellow of the American Psychological Association and the Midwestern Psychological Association.

Dr. Weiten has also served as president of the Rocky Mountain Psychological Association and the Society for the Teaching of Psychology. The Society for the Teaching of Psychology named one of its six national teaching awards in his honour in 2006. Dr. Weiten has conducted research on a variety of subjects, such as attribution theory, jury decision-making, and educational measurement.
