Professor Eugene F. Brigham is Graduate Research Professor Emeritus at the University of Florida, where he has been teaching since 1971. He received his undergraduate degree from the University of North Carolina and his MBA and Ph.D. from the University of California-Berkeley. Prior to joining the University of Florida, Dr. Eugene held teaching positions at the University of Wisconsin, the University of Connecticut, and the University of California-Los Angeles. A former president of the Financial Management Association, Brigham has written many journal articles on the cost of capital, capital structure and other aspects of financial management. He has co-authored or authored ten textbooks on managerial economics and managerial finance that are used at more than 1,000 universities in the United States and have been translated into 11 languages around the world. In addition to his academic writing, Eugene continues to consult, teach and complete research. He has served as a consultant to many government agencies and corporations, including the Federal Reserve Board, the U.S. Office of Telecommunications Policy, the Federal Home Loan Bank Board, and the RAND Corp., and he has testified as an expert witness in numerous gas, electric and telephone rate cases at both state and federal levels. Professor Brigham spends his spare time on the golf course, enjoying time with his dogs and family, and tackling outdoor adventure activities.

Dr. Thomas E. Patterson is Bradlee Professor of Government and the Press in the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University. In October 2013, he wrote the book Informing the News: The Need for Knowledge-Based Journalism. His earlier book, The Vanishing Voter, examines the reasons for and effects of voting, and his book on the political function of the media, Out of Order, won the Graber Award from the American Political Science Association for being the best book on political communication during the previous ten years. The American Association for Public Opinion Research named his first book, The Unseeing Eye, as one of the top 50 public opinion books of the last 50 years.

He is also the author of We the People, an introduction to the American government and the award-winning Mass Media Election. His articles have been published in the popular press, Political Communication, Journal of Communication, and other scholarly journals.
The Ford, Markle, Smith-Richardson, Pew, Knight, Carnegie, and National Science foundations have all supported his research. In 1971, Patterson graduated with a Ph.D. from the University of Minnesota.
