About The Author

Michael Sullivan

Michael Sullivan

Dr. Mike Sullivan III has a varied teaching background that includes 16 years of high school and college-level maths instruction. He is currently a full-time professor of mathematics and statistics at Joliet Junior College. Mike has numerous books in publication in addition to his Introductory Statistics Series, which include a Developmental Math series, and a Precalculus series, which he writes with his father, Michael Sullivan. Mike has built this textbook in the classroom, using feedback from his college students. He knows the challenges of maths and stats students taking an introductory statistics course. His goal is for college students to be more informed interpreters of data to be better decision-makers and have more vital critical-thinking skills. When not in the classroom or writing, Sullivan enjoys spending time with his 3 children, Kevin, Michael,  and Marissa, and playing golf.

With the Fundamentals of Statistics 2nd edition eBook, author and instructor Mike Sullivan III aims to make statistics accessible to college students. His objective is to help readers realize the connection between statistics and various individual concepts and the world around them. This practical approach to the subject uses the latest statistical software, enabling students to focus more on building their conceptual understanding rather than memorizing dull formulas. The author aims to keep the readers engaged and confident and intends to provide practical opportunities for them to practice their skills.

In this eBook, the author has covered various essential topics such as Data Collection, Probability, Hypothesis Testing, The Normal Probability Distribution, Binomial Probability Distributions, Confidence Intervals about a Single Parameter, and much more. The comprehensive resources provided, including the Student Activity Workbook and Author in the Classroom videos, were created by the author to help readers grasp the concepts easily and stay engaged.

The eBook is perfect for those who want to learn about statistics related to their lives. The book is available digitally, and a newer version (6th edition) is also available.
