Keith A. Roberts

Dr. Keith Alan Roberts (late) was Professor Emeritus of Sociology at Hanover College in Indiana. In 2000, he received the Hans Mauksch Award for Distinguished Contributions to Undergraduate Sociology from the ASA Section on Teaching and Learning, and in 2010, his work in the scholarship of learning and teaching was recognized with the American Sociological Association’s Distinguished Contributions to Teaching Award.

Religion in Sociological Perspective, 7th Edition, (ePubPDF) introduces college students to the techniques of that means, construction, and belonging that make up the sophisticated social phenomena we all know as faith. Authors David Yamane and Keith A. Roberts use an energetic studying method to point out the central theories and strategies of analysis in the sociology of faith and present school college students implement these analytical instruments to new teams they encounter. The newest 7th Edition departs from prior editions by emphasizing that the sociology of faith is an ongoing dialog amongst students in dialogue with present scholarship and the social world. This viewpoint is established in the brand new second chapter, “Historical Development of the Sociology of Religion.” Other chapters embrace essential voices from the previous alongside the views of latest sociologists, and conclude with a sight of the place the sociology of faith is perhaps heading in the long run. At every alternative, the textbook has been enriched by analysis and examples that are supposed to query parochial limits in the sociology of faith, pushing past Christianity, beliefs, congregations, nationwide borders (particularly the United States), and even past faith itself (to take non-faith extra significantly).
