About The Author

Hugh D. Young

Hugh D. Young

Dr. Hugh D. Young (1930—2013) was an Emeritus Professor of Physics at Carnegie Mellon University. He earned both his graduate and undergraduate degrees from that university. He earned his Ph.D. in fundamental particle theory under the direction of the late Richard Cutkosky. Hugh joined the faculty of Carnegie Mellon in 1956 and retired in 2004. He also had two visiting professorships at the University of California, Berkeley.

Professor Young’s career was centered entirely on undergraduate education. He wrote several undergraduate-level textbooks, and in 1973 he became a coauthor with Mark Zemansky and Francis Sears for their well-known introductory textbooks. In addition to his role in Sears and Zemansky’s University Physics, he was the author of Sears and Zemansky’s College Physics.

Roger A. Freedman

Roger A. Freedman

Dr. Roger A. Freedman is a Lecturer in Physics at the University of California, Santa Barbara. He was an undergraduate at the University of California campuses in San Diego and did his doctoral research in nuclear theory at Stanford University under the direction of Professor J. Dirk Walecka. Roger came to UCSB in 1981 after 3 years of research and teaching at the University of Washington.

At UCSB, Professor Freedman has taught in both the College of Creative Studies and the Department of Physics. He has published research in elementary particle physics, nuclear physics, and laser physics. In recent years, he has worked to make physics lectures a more interactive experience through the use of classroom response systems and pre-lecture videos.

Looking for a reliable guide to ace your introductory physics course? Look no further than the Solutions Manual for University Physics with Modern Physics 15th Edition. This Instructor’s Solution Manual consists of detailed discussion and solutions to every problem in the textbook. Please note that this sale does not include the ebook itself, but it is available for purchase separately.

About the eBook: Mastering physics principles can be challenging for students. That’s where the University Physics with Modern Physics, 15th Edition comes into play, as it draws on data insights from hundreds of faculty and thousands of students to address such challenges. This 15th edition is dedicated to recognizing patterns, making connections between problem types, and developing an understanding of problem-solving approaches, rather than simply plugging in an equation. The textbook encourages understanding of underlying concepts by identifying main ideas used in solving problems through Key Concept statements. New variations of Key Example Problems in Guided Practice sections help students recognize similar steps used to solve problems regardless of wording or numbers, thus enabling students to build confidence and recognize patterns for different problem types.
